Aikido, The Latest Martial Art

Aikido, The Latest Martial Art

by Owen Jones

aikido

The sphere of Martial Arts is one of the most important contributions of Asia to the world. Who will forget Bruce Lee and the fact that he was first and foremost a martial arts competitor before becoming a movie star? Martial arts pictures are a huge hit with the ever-increasing popularity of Asian cinema like ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ and more recently ‘The House of the Flying Daggers’.

The Chinese are the first people that come to mind when it you think of such things, but the Japanese are equally as sporty with a rich tradition of body contact sports in their past. Modern Japan still gives honor to the martial arts by holding tournaments and promoting their sports around the world,

Aikido is one of these. It is interesting to note the fact that the word comes from three Japanese characters from which one derives the meaning of the one word. Ai means ‘joining’, Ki means ‘spirit’ and Do means ‘way’. From this we can understand why Aikido lies beyond merely the physical skills of it students, particularly since its first proponent, Ueshiba, focused on the spiritual and philosophical development of his students. A Overview Of WTF Vs ITF Taekwondo

by Jason Arnold

itf taekwondo sparringWhen doing a comparison of WTF vs ITF Taekwondo, it will be important that an individual bear in mind what their goal for training in this martial art is. Although the differences may seem subtle between the two organizations, they are important differences that will lead the student down different paths as an athlete or an individual who develops the confidence to protect themselves when confronted by an aggressor.

WTF Taekwondo was recognized as an official Olympic Sport in 2000 after giving a demonstration of the art in 1988. This highlights one of the main differences when comparing the two organizations. WTF is a full-contact Olympic sport, while ITF taekwondo is a semi-contact martial art. Both organizations teach the 24 patterns that are used in traditional Taekwondo, however the focus on training differs and emphasis is placed in different areas. Therefore, determining which organization will best meet your individual needs will require that you so some research on each of these groups. Read the rest of this entry »

Martial Arts Billing

martial arts billingMartial Arts Billing Advice

By Adam Broetje

For years, martial arts billing companies have been assisting martial arts schools to collect from non-paying students, and many schools have thrived while using these services.

The only problem is that you give up a large portion of your profits when using one of these services. They are in the middle and collect your money, sit on it for a week or two and THEN send it to you. (Hint: THEY make money off the interest while they’re sitting on YOUR money.)

Here at ExperienceMartialArts.com, we highly recommend you using the Martial Arts Software provided by ZenPlanner.  ZenPlanner can automate the martial arts billing process for you, decrease the number of students that pay late, save you more than 75% on your billing expenses, and alleviate any fear you may have about playing the “bad guy” and having a conversation with your students about payments. KyuShinDo is not a Martial Art

I became involved initially in Judo in 1956 and Aikido in 1957 as a direct student of the legendary Budo Master Kenshiro Abbe Sensei 1915 ~ 1985. I was a student with Ken Williams Sensei at the now famous `Hut Dojo`.

I am now involved with a few of the remaining direct students of Abbe Sensei in an attempt to protect the legacy and proud lineage left behind by this great man of Budo who was our teacher and mentor. We now have two informative internet sites which we hope will give any ` genuine ` student the truth about Kenshiro Abbe Sensei and his lifes dedication to the study and philosophy of KyuShinDo. The sites are the very popular ` KyuShinDo Blog ` and the ` Kenshiro Abbe Blog `. It has taken a great deal of effort to collate the history and facts that we trust will one day be of benefit to future generations who will see through the fog of fraudulent claims by so many of some kind of association with Kenshiro Abbe Sensei in what can only be an attempt to gain some form of credibility.

Leadership and Martial Arts: Way to Develop Better Leadership Skills in Kids

By Dustin Fennell

Confidence is one of the most important gifts that we can give to our children and ourselves. We know that for a child, confidence is a major ingredient for a successful life. Children who are enrolled in martial arts often discuss how martial arts develops leadership skills. This is because, at an early age at least, a child’s level of confidence is most affected by control over their environment.

A young person must feel the ability to achieve most of the goals that he or she sets. Being accepted as who we are by the people who are important to us is also an essential ingredient. The only difference between life as a gang member and life as a world class athlete may be the absence or presence of a supportive family environment. Read the rest of this entry »
